5/30/2023 0 Comments Rush team webgl**But I just spent Kreds in these games, and now they're just suddenly shutting down? That's not fair!** We're currently working with some of those developers to try to find a way to allow a downloadable client for use with your Kongregate account, but most of them are still being worked on. Java does NOT have tools to do this, so those developers were generally unable to port their games over. Not all of them had the resources or time to do this, but we have done our best to encourage as many as possible to do so. We have been working with many of our developers and encouraging them all to port their games over to WebGL if possible, in order to make this transition as smooth as possible. Unity's development tools include tools to help Unity developers port their game over to WebGL. **Why doesn't everyone just move to WebGL?** However, this does mean that Unity **Webplayer** and Java (and any other NPAPI plugins, other than Flash) will no longer be supported in Firefox across the web, which also means that you will no longer be able to play games that run exclusively in Unity or Java without switching to another browser. In fact, for any developers who have prepared a WebGL and a Unity version of their game, we have been delivering the WebGL version to you if you were using a browser that did not support Unity Webplayer. WebGL is built into browsers, so any Unity games that have taken the time to port their games to WebGL should work fine. We felt it was important to highlight this because of the high number of Firefox users on our site, but you should still be able to play them in IE11 and Safari.įor most games, this means nothing! Flash is still usable in browsers, even if () in your favorite games. You may still be able to play Unity/Java games in Internet Explorer 11 for Windows or Safari for Mac, however. Unfortunately, Firefox will also be phasing out NPAPI support with Firefox 52, which launches on **Tuesday, March 7, 2017**. Chrome began to phase out support in 2015, and Firefox has been the only place to play such games for awhile now. I have clarified in the thread title that this is just regarding Firefox, but IE and Safari should still work for these.Īs you may be aware, browsers have slowly been deprecating support for NPAPI plugins like Unit圓D Webplayer and Java. EDIT: Some alternatives have been mentioned through this post and the thread.
